Wings

US 1927
Director: William A. Wellman
Actors: Clara Bow, Charles Buddy Rogers, Richard Arlen,Gary Cooper.
Story: Two Americans join the Army Air Corps and are posted to the 39th Aero Squadron in France during WW1.
Wellman, the director had been flying with the Lafayette Flying Corps in France and Arlen had served in the Canadian RFC from 1917.
The combat flying sequences are among the best in Hollywood history!
Oscar winner as Best Picture.

Howard Hughes purchased a batch of WW1 aircraft to use in this expensive film, which is unmatched for aerial spectacle.

Battle of Britain

Story: In 1940, the British Royal Air Force fights a desperate battle against the Germany Luftwaffe to prevent a Nazi invasion of Britain.
The producers pulled together more than 100 1940-vintage aircraft for this film. A total of 36 Spitfires, 3 Hurricanes, 28 Bf 109s were collected
and 31 Heinkel He 111 bombers and a Junkers Ju 52 were borrowed from the Spanish Air Force. Superb aerial sequences.

Actors: Martin Balsam, Jason Robards,Joseph Cotten.
Story: The attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 from both American and Japanese points of view.
More than 70 aircraft were used in the filming as 5 Boeing B-17 Flying Fortresses, 2 Curtiss P-40 Warhawks and the Consolidated PBY Catalinas.

Memphis Belle

Story: This is a remake of the documentary of 1944 and follows the crew of a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress "The Memphis Belle" on their 25th
and final bombing mission to Germany in the summer of 1943.
Five real B-17's were used in the filming.
